PIERRE-BRAULT
COMPLEX

CONCEPTION AND FABRICATION
OF THE STEEL STRUCTURE

General Contractor : EMD Construction
Architect : Michel Perusse Architecte
Location : Greenfield Park, QC | Date of completion : 2012
Service

The Pierre-Brault Complex, a five story high commercial building, is another project that Lainco completed from the design up to the erection of the structure. Lainco did stand out in the design of this building using a perforated ductile steel shear wall system, a first in America. This allowed us to avoid the use of bracing in the multi-tiered part of the complex, thus granting the freedom desired by the architect. In addition, this system significantly reduces ground footings compared to traditional construction. A concept of steel beams which act in symbiosis with the concrete slab was also used on this project. This composite structural beam system allowed us to replace the original structural slab, designed in concrete only, which resulted in a gain of about 3 weeks on the construction schedule for the client
