In the wake of President Trump’s election and the initial tariff announcements —well before their official implementation—our market experienced a noticeable slowdown. This period of
uncertainty prompted us to take a step back, re-evaluate and think more strategically about our priorities and overall direction. We’ve since decided to focus on consolidating our presence in Canada by reinforcing relationships with existing clients and enhancing our impact in a market where we have longstanding expertise.
The imposition of steel tariffs made rising material costs—and their ripple effects on the Canadian market—unavoidable. In this context, several North American steel producers raised their prices, creating supply pressure. Lainco responded decisively by implementing targeted measures to shield our customers from these effects. We have streamlined our design processes, secured raw materials in advance, and adapted select concepts to incorporate more readily available alternatives. These proactive, and strategic realignment measures ensure that we continue to meet highest quality standards and continue delivering projects on schedule, no matter the external pressures.
We remain confident in our ability to navigate these challenges. Adversity is an inherent part of any landscape, and this period of transition is encouraging us to refine our practices, enhance our efficiency, and embrace more agile ways of working. Looking ahead, the evolving current market shifts may actually result in a broader pool of skilled labour in the medium term—offering us a valuable opportunity to reinforce and grow our teams, giving us the chance to expand our skilled workforce.
With discipline and optimism, we are keeping a close eye on the evolving situation, staying true to our mission of delivering dependable, efficient service that aligns with today’s market conditions. Driven by our ambition to offer creative, innovation-focused solutions, we approach the future with openness and confidence.
